About Event

Lyndsey McMillon-Brown is research electrical engineer at NASA Glenn Research Center where she focuses on solar cell materials development.  She is currently the principal investigator of a $2.5M Early Career Initiative developing a new class of solar cells that can be manufactured in space and on the moon. Prior to joining NASA, Lyndsey earned her Ph.D. in chemical engineering at Yale University in 2019 where she researched novel materials and nano-patterns for advanced light trapping in solar cells. Lyndsey earned her bachelor’s in mechanical and manufacturing engineering from Miami University in Ohio in 2013.  Outside of the lab, Lyndsey is dedicated to increasing opportunities for underrepresented individuals in STEM fields.  As an alumna, she challenges her institutions to facilitate cultural changes that provide more inclusive environments for their students. She recently published a comment in Nature Energy about an event she founded at an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) conference to support marginalized researchers, she also recommends actions that organizations should take to make the research space inclusive.

Feel free to read a newly published comment in Nature Energy on November 3, 2021:
