Artificial Intelligence Discussion Group

​Our member Abhishek Gupta is convening a group interested to discuss AI and ethics together on a regular basis.

​In this meeting, the group will discuss the latest State of AI Ethics Report published by the Montreal AI Ethics Institute which Abhishek founded.

​The State of AI Ethics Report (Volume 6) published in February 2022, captures the latest in research and reporting in the domain of AI ethics. In this edition, the report covers the following areas: 

​(1) What we’re thinking
(2) Analysis of the AI Ecosystem
(3) Privacy
(4) Bias
(5) Social Media and Problematic Information
(6) AI Design and Governance
(7) Laws and Regulations
(8) Trends and
(9) Outside the Boxes

​Given the rapidly growing pace of the field itself, even an approximately 300-pages, this report isn't enough to comprehensively cover the field, but MAIEI hopes to provide everyone with the signal amongst the noise.

​In this session, we will come together to discuss various segments of the report in 15-minute thematic bursts with a subset of us sharing quick 2-minute trends that we see in that theme and then using the remainder of the time in that segment to work through the major points of discussion. We will also be capturing these trends so that we can come back and reflect on them in 6 months time when the next edition of the report is released.
