About Event

"Courageous Conversations" is an exclusive workshop hosted by WoW holder Simon Eastwood for select community members to build peoples’ skills to have confidence and courage in 'leaning into' critical but potentially challenging conversations, whilst maintaining relationships.

Overview of the session

The ability to open up and engage people in high quality conversations, focusing on how we can improve performance and work together more effectively, is one of the most important skills underpinning high performing cultures. Likewise, the absence of these skills can be a huge contributor to underperformance and unresolved conflict. The purpose of this workshop is to build peoples’ skills to have confidence and courage in 'leaning into' critical but potentially challenging conversations, whilst maintaining relationships. Creating a culture where feedback is sought out and valued.

Learning outcomes

Combining input with practice and feedback in small groups on real scenarios – you will work on 5 key skills:

1. Self-management. Managing ourselves to stay open and centred.

2. Opening the conversation. Setting the context and building trust in our intent, to maximise receptivity.

3. Skilled candour. Combining psychological safety with speaking directly.

4. Opening up a two-way dialogue. To shed new light on the situation by seeking to understand their perspective. Includes honing effective listening and questioning skills.

5. Moving to action and next steps.
