#01 Tools for Knowledge :: Connecting Knowledge Salon
In this week's Connected Knowledge Salon we'll be talking about tools for knowledge and how to think about them in context of sense-making, knowledge work and lifelong learning.
Plato referred to knowledge as "food of the soul”. And just like for food, there are plenty of steps involved to transform raw knowledge into a digestible and nourishing form.
Humans thrive when building and using tools. Just like tools in your kitchen, you're already using proven tools for knowledge: books, articles, lectures, pen & paper, etc..
But with the move to "digital everything", plenty of layers got added to the mix:
digital note-taking
bookmarking
reading (and read-it-later) app
highlighting
online and social media
communities
While kitchen tools are pretty mature, we're all together figuring out digital knowledge tools right now.
Some questions we'll be discussing:
Why there's probably not one tool for everything (not even Obsidian ;) but a stack of knowledge tools
What categories of knowledge tools are emerging as most useful?
Who are hidden champions (such as Obsidian, Drafts, Matter, Readwise, etc.)
Learn how to add tools for knowledge to compound the effectiveness of your knowledge.
When?
Join us on Friday, 6pm UTC+1 (Berlin time) via Zoom
How?
The Connected Knowledge Salon is presented by Trickle.app (yes, another tool for knowledge).
You host will be Achim Rothe, Co-Founder of Trickle.app, a passionate wisdom curator, lifelong learner, and knowledge tech entrepreneur from Berlin, Germany.
What?
We'll start in Zoom with a 10-15 minute introduction of the topic and then open up 30 minutes for comments, questions and answers in the group. This part of the call will be recorded and published as video and audio to allow for async consumption.
We'll then move over to a private fireside video chat in Gather where we can mingle and talk individually or in small groups. No recording in this section.
