Ai Salon: Common Sense
We've taken large steps from "narrow" AI to systems that have broad understanding of our world, society, and values. Still, there are many gaps. How do we bring "common sense" into our AI systems? What heuristics, instincts or other assumptions go into our thoughts and interactions? What would it mean for AI systems to share them? How universal is "common sense" anyway?
The more we can solve these problems the less we (individually or collectively) have to adapt to these new technologies and the more we can be augmented in a practical and pragmatic way.
This Ai Salon is co-hosted with Liz O'Sullivan, who's CEO of the AI optimization platform Vera, and a member of the National AI Advisory Committee, which advises the US executive branch on AI regulation. Excited to have her at the salon during her few weeks in the Bay area.
