About Event

Much of the work of our Quaker meetings, organizations, and communities and done via committee. Committee clerks play a special role guiding groups of Friends into meaningful service while keeping the “big picture” of their committee’s purpose as well as many assorted details in focus.

Join us for a 2.5 hour workshop on Best Practices for Quaker Committee Clerks. In our time together, we will explore both spiritual and practical aspects of committee clerking including:

  • How Friends' understanding of Spirit-led decision making can be practiced within the context of committee work

  • How committee clerks can help draw out gifts and grow new leadership

  • The nuts-and-bolts side of committee work including best practices related to maintaining committee files, creating agendas, managing projects, delegating tasks, and communicating between meetings

  • The ways committee service can be a heartfelt expression of our faith as Friends

This workshop is appropriate for new or returning committee clerks as well as Friends considering stepping into a committee clerk role in the future.

This workshop will be facilitated by two experienced committee clerks and workshop facilitators: Sarah Gant of Beacon Hill (MA) Meeting and Nia Thomas of Northampton (MA) Meeting

This is a pay-as-led (sliding scale) event with a suggested fee of $20. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
