Exploring Toronto’s Billion-Dollar Social Business Opportunities
Toronto faces a growing number of social and environmental problems. Whether it is the housing crunch, integration of new arrivals, increasing social isolation or the looming threat of climate change – the city is challenged to find new ways to respond. At the same time, many of these problems also present an opportunity for social entrepreneurs to innovate new solutions.
Join Toronto Metropolitan University’s (TMU’s) pioneering social business incubator, the Social Ventures Zone, as we explore how social enterprise could change how Toronto responds to social problems AND encourage a new generation of economic growth.
This free event, supported by the City of Toronto's BIC Grant Program and Toronto's Centre for Social Innovation (CSI), will feature top voices in Ontario's social innovation landscape:
Moderator Jason Maghanoy, Publisher, Maclean's & Toronto Life Magazine
Panelist Melanie Cote, Founder, Do Good Donuts

We love hosting events for the social impact community! Unfortunately, oftentimes we have a large number of registrants that don't show up the day of the event. To mitigate this, the Social Ventures Zone has implemented a new registration policy to insure that access is fair and open to those wishing to attend our events. Any attendee who registers for this event and does not attend, without unregistering at least 24 hours before the event, will not be allowed to register for another Social Ventures Zone event or program for one year (not including Caffeinated Innovators). We are sympathetic to extenuating circumstances; feel free to reach out to our team after the conclusion of the event.
