Counterintuitive Climate Solutions with Ariel Conn
Put on your Sunday best, grab a mimosa and join us for a talk by the amazing Ariel Conn.
Ariel created the “Not Cool” podcast (https://futureoflife.org/notcool/), where she interviewed prominent climate scientists, economists and ecologists. This talk is about the most surprising takeaways - the exceptional powers of mangroves, how the amazon is more like sweat glands than like lungs, the magic of zoning laws, geoengineering side effects and much more.
Ariel’s work appeared in the Guardian, the Metro UK, and she appeared on the floor of the UN to address existential threats from climate change and lethal autonomous weapons. She’s “run” a high altitude half marathon, skied down Corbet’s Couloir, and has a rescue dog afraid of plastic bags & out of place towels but ready to attack vicious animals and moving vehicles.
Following a 30 minute talk + Q&A, we’ll break out into smaller discussion groups for the awesome folks in the community to meet each other.
