Reimagining the Climate Work Movement in a New World
The climate work movement is at a turning point.
For years, climate workforce efforts have focused on filling talent gaps—electricians, carbon accountants, sustainability analysts. But as political and economic shifts threaten the very policies and funding that create these jobs, it’s clear that this approach alone won’t get us where we need to go.
Millions of skilled professionals—from bankers to artists to public administrators—stand ready to contribute. They know their fields inside and out, know the right people, and have the power to shift how things are done. Yet the climate movement rarely calls on them: a vast reservoir of human potential is left untapped.
Most critically, when we limit our vision to filling job openings within the existing system, we give up on harnessing talent towards progress on the system itself.
What if, instead of being guided by what’s missing, we were guided by what’s possible? What could become possible if we mobilized millions of professionals to use their talent and networks to build a regenerative green economy?
Let's imagine a truly transformational climate work movement together.
What will happen at the workshop?
This will be a collaborative relationship-building and visioning workshop. There will be no content and no featured speakers, only facilitated activities to help participants collectively envision a role for the climate work movement in the new world, and begin working together towards making it a reality.
Who is this for?
We aim to gather a curated group of leaders with diverse perspectives likely to hold key pieces of the puzzle, reinforce each other’s creativity, and collaborate with each other.
This workshop is for movement-builders, community leaders, organizational and systems change practitioners, educators and trainers, climate and non-climate industry leaders, policymakers, and philanthropic and impact funders, and more.
