Release to the Wild: An Immersive Creative Campout
Come learn the fundamentals of camping, creative writing, and much more from the folks at Latinxhikers, Gorditas ATL, and Corazón a Corazón, at this 2-day, 1-night creative camping experience. You’ll have the opportunity to get outside, connect with like-minded folks, & learn new skills through our interactive workshops.
*Workshop list and full itinerary will be released closer to the event date.
*Carpooling isn't offered but a group chat will be organized prior to the event in order to discuss transportation needs.
This event is designated for BIPOC and QTBIPOC Individuals who are first-time campers. Ages 18+
We ask that all attendees treat each other with respect and adhere to our core values.
Note: If anyone fails to do so or engages in disrespectful behavior, we reserve the right to aks them to leave the event.

Camping
Adriana Garcia (she/her) of LatinxHikers will be your guide on all things camping and outdoors! Feel free to come to her with any questions or concerns.
Each camper will be outfitted with camping equipment rental provided by REI. Your ticket includes the following camping gear:
Tent
Sleeping pad
Padded Cot
Outdoor Rug
Camp table
Camp Chair
You will be required to share a tent with another camper. Please indicate on the registration form if there is a person you would like to room with.
You will be in an outdoor setting where the climate and weather can change drastically quickly so come prepared! We recommend bringing the following items to make your weekend more comfortable and enjoyable:
Headlamp or flashlight
Lantern
Sleeping bag, extra blankets & pillows
hiking gear including rain shell/poncho, comfortable shoes, extra socks, and breathable, warm layers like hat, gloves, coat, base layers, fleece, puffy
snacks
reusable water bottle
sunscreen
bug spray
hand soap or hand sanitizer
portable battery charger for phone
hammock
We will be staying at a designated campground so we will have access to potable water, electricity, and bathroom facilities including showers, toilets, and sinks.
This is a leave-no-trace event. We pack out everything we pack in
Comida
Chef Río (they/them) of Gordias ATL will be your guide on all things food! Feel free to come to them with any questions and concerns.

Creative Writing
Leo Rodriguez (he/him) & Alé Ramirez-Morales (she/her) of Corazón a Corazón will be your writing guides over the weekend! Feel free to come to them with any questions or concerns.
We will introduce our theme for the night and dive into a guided creative writing workshop. We’ll cover some fundamentals of creative writing, literary devices, and the essence of the theme.
Your hosts & workshop leaders:
Adriana Garcia(she/her) Wild woman, co-founder of Latinxhikers, and passionate outdoor equity advocate. She is just trying to help folks get outside where they feel supported and welcome. She’s your outdoor homie.
Chef Río (they/them) Chef, community leader, bringing food equality to Atlanta. They aspire to be a safe space for ALL to gather over one commonality, food.
Leo Rodriguez (he/him) Storyteller, poet, and community creator. He tries to create spaces where individuals can gather together, learn from one another, and grow their craft.
Alé Ramirez-Morales (she/her/) is a writer, outdoor enthusiast, and advocate, dedicated to creating spaces that foster connection and community building. She believes in the power of collective healing and strives to incorporate this into the events she helps organize.
