About Event

Women in Carbon Southeast Asia (WiC SEA) is part of a global non-profit network dedicated to empowering women in the carbon industry. We foster learning, connection, and collaboration — supporting women to lead sustainable solutions and drive innovation in carbon markets.

As carbon markets rapidly evolve to become one of the most critical levers in addressing climate change, it’s more important than ever to bring diverse voices and collective intelligence to the forefront.

That’s why we’re inviting you to join an 'unconference' with Open Space Technology (OST) — a participatory, self-organising way of gathering to spark the most important conversations and co-create new ideas together.

This session is open to all women in the carbon, sustainability, or climate-adjacent space — whether you’re deep in the work, just entering the field, or exploring how your skills can contribute. Come as you are.

✨ What It Is

OST thrives on spontaneity and participant-led dialogue. There’s no fixed agenda — you, or rather we, decide what matters.

Using four core principles:

  1. Whoever comes are the right people

  2. Whatever happens is the only thing that could have happened

  3. When it starts is the right time

  4. When it’s over, it’s over

And one guiding law:
The Law of Two Feet – if you’re not learning or contributing, you’re free to move to a space where you can.

Participants can propose discussion topics inspired by these prompts or others. Those interested can pitch a topic in 45 seconds, and we’ll collaboratively create a “marketplace” of conversations.

🌀 How It Works

Each topic space will be hosted by participants and may include roles like:

  • Host (initiator of the topic)

  • Scribe (documents key insights)

  • Guardian (ensures inclusive, balanced discussion)

These roles are optional and self-assigned. After breakout sessions, we’ll close with a walk-around to give everyone the chance to learn from each group and reflect on shared themes.

🧭 Possible Themes to Explore

A few grounding prompts and ideas:
💭 “Why is the carbon space so critical for our collective future?”
💭 “What leap must we take to build a better, fairer carbon economy?”
💭 “What do you wish more people understood about sustainability or climate finance?”

  • Climate tech and innovation

  • Carbon markets and climate finance

  • Circular economy and regenerative design

  • ESG strategy and policy

  • Power, equity, and representation

  • Systems thinking and collaboration

  • Personal alignment and climate leadership

✍️ Before You Join...

Take a few minutes to reflect:

  • What challenge or question is alive for you right now in your work?

  • What conversation do you wish was happening more often in our space?

  • What “dot” are you holding that you’d like to connect with others?

Come with your questions, tensions, experience, and curiosity.

💚 Why This Matters

Carbon markets are more than financial systems. They are evolving frameworks for climate justice, sustainable development, and innovation. For these systems to truly succeed, they need leadership that is diverse, inclusive, and rooted in collaboration.

We believe that when women in the carbon space come together in open dialogue, they unlock the clarity and momentum needed to drive meaningful, long-term impact.
