About Event

Jephtah Abu takes us through an introduction on how make your online community a safe and inclusive place for your members. We'll talk about moving beyond unconscious biases to building inclusive global community spaces and experiences.

"Diversity just doesn’t span across the race and identities of your community members, it also includes their beliefs and thoughts. Equity comes into play in having a fair and impartial approach towards treating community members and Inclusion is creating that sense of belonging within your community, where members feel comfortable in contributing to ideas and topics in their own unique way." -Jephtah Abu

Jephtah is an intrinsic community manager based in Lagos, Nigeria. After 5+ years in Marketing, he realized that community management is his passion. This passion led to the creation of his blog where he has unpacked insights from interviews with top community managers and builders, including Jenifer “Sue” the head of community at Headspace - the meditation app with more than 30 million users, along with Ben Lang the head of community at Notion which has approximately 20 million users, he also has written about gamification in communities and defining what success looks like in them. Jephtah became the first local-based Nigerian to be awarded a full scholarship to Commsor's CSchool (A cohort for Community Managers) and the only African recipient for the 2022 CRNetwork Scholarship powered by The CommunityRoundtable. Jephtah advocates for DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) in the community management space as he wants more Global Opportunities for Community Managers living in Nigeria.
