​James Cook is designer who helps growing organisations build great in-house teams and digital services. He offer 18 years experience in software design, delivery, and leadership. And has worked with an interesting mix of organisations across industries, including Selfridges, Thoughtworks, NTI, OVO Energy, Springer Nature, Government of Singapore, Student Loans Company, Isotrak, BBC, and Amnesty International.

​Building digital products and services is continuous. When we start something, we know the least about what it is we need to do, only ever learning more as we progress. So why do we often decide what it will be in the end, at the beginning?

​We'll open with a look back to the ancient world, and the lessons it can still teach us today as we build software. We'll then walk through real projects to understand how lightweight, inclusive ways of working deliver better results. And we'll finish with a look at real-world methods you can experiment right away in your own work.
