About Event

OneThousandClub believes that meaningful connection between Portuguese and Foreigners often starts around the dinner table.

That's why we will continue our dinner series this spring!

HOW IT WORKS: You pick an evening that works for you and sign up to join 8 other members for a three-course meal by one of OneThousandClub's private chefs! As is club tradition, it will be hosted by one of our members, and there will always be one inspiring discussion question!

28th of March! THE CHEF: Filipe Camacho

*We will be announcing new OneThousandClub private chefs partnerships into the rotation throughout March - so stay tuned!

OneThousandClub is building partnerships with our favourite Portuguese native chefs who are passionate about adding new twists to Portuguese cuisine and working closely with local farmers.

Filipe Camacho was born and raised in the Madeira Islands, a love for food eventually made him decide to become a chef where he found himself a safe heaven where cooking became a space of constant growth and creativity.

With 10 years experience in prestigious restaurants in Lisbon and a particular taste for world cuisine and most importantly for fish, seafood and foraging the beautiful Portuguese coastline for seaweed.

On this very special evening he will be honouring us with his islander origins. Madeirense food is very connected to the ocean and brings to the table a variety of sorts of seafood that most of us have never heard of.

Starting with a tasting of a homemade ‘bolo do caco’ which is a wheat bread typical of Madeira and funny enough of Arabic origins, who during their expeditions across the North Atlantic must of left it behind, but its name is due to how it was baked: in a basalt stone, called "caco", over hot coals.

THE LOCATION: AT HOME!

OneThousandClub is growing, but we aim to always stay intimate by gathering around the table at member's home. We have a list of members - all with homes vetted for space and vibe - who will be your host for your evening.

Host of the night will be our member André Santos.

Cancellation Policy:

Due to limited seating and private chefs being paid in advance, we request that you cancel at least 48 hours before a scheduled dinner. This gives us the opportunity to fill the seat. You may cancel by phone or email. If you have to cancel your dinner, we offer you a dinner credit to your membership if you cancel before the 48 hours, but do not offer refunds. You may use these credits towards any future social pod dinner. However, if you do not cancel prior to the 48 hours, you will lose the payment for the dinner.
