About Event

** This is a LIVE interview with author Beth Morrey about the craft of writing and reality of building a writing career. Attendees will be sent a recording after the interview. **

How can we write with humor and heart? What does it take to craft a book that readers can’t put down?

For years, Beth wanted to write a book, but it took her decades to finally get started. What emerged after a flurry of writing was Saving Missy, a funny coming-of-old novel that sparked a bidding war between 10 publishers and hit the Sunday Times bestseller list.

Her latest book, Lucky Day, is a fierce and joyful novel about putting life on pause, pleasing yourself, and getting your own life back.

Join us for a conversation with Beth as we discuss her journey as a writer and TV producer. We’ll also deconstruct her writing process for humorous fiction and explore what it means to stop saying ‘yes’ and start living for yourself.

We’ll also discuss:

  • The inspiration behind Lucky Day

  • Her writing process: Think Slow, Write Fast, Edit Slow

  • Beth's process for developing characters and their journeys

  • Insights into Beth's writing routine and creative practices
