The Responsible Kidfluence Code: An Ethical Framework for Family Content
Responsible Kidfluence Code: Virtual Launch & Discussion
As children continue to feature prominently in digital marketing and creator content, the need for clear, responsible standards has never been greater. The Responsible Kidfluence Code (kidfluencecode.com) is the industry’s first framework designed to protect children’s wellbeing, privacy, financial fairness, and safety in social media campaigns.
This virtual event will present the framework in full, share key findings from the whitepaper, and highlight insights from our July 2025 in‑person panel featuring brand leaders, creators, and policymakers. It’s an opportunity to learn what the Code means for your role, your organisation, and the wider industry.

Guest Speaker: Dr. Francis Rees
Dr. Francis Rees is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Essex and Co-ordinator of the Child Influencer Project, which investigates the risks faced by children whose content is monetised on social media platforms.
Unlike traditional child performers (actors, models), child influencers lack equivalent safeguarding in the multi-billion dollar influencer marketing industry. Through surveys, interviews, and observational research across the UK and Ireland, the Project has identified 20 distinct risks to children, spanning:
Financial risks
Risks to education
Health & safety concerns
Family disruptions
Negative impacts on identity
Threats to dignity
Dr. Rees has submitted evidence to the UN Special Rapporteur on the Sale and Exploitation of Children and is currently writing a book, The True Cost of Digital Child Labour – A Risk Assessment for Child Influencers (forthcoming, 2026). More information is available via the Child Influencer Project and her recent published research.
Her expertise will bring vital context to how industry frameworks like the Responsible Kidfluence Code can bridge the current regulatory shortfall and support brands, policymakers, and families in protecting children’s rights.
