


Bay Area Meet Up - SunSpec Hackathon
The SunSpec Alliance, in collaboration with Port Labs, DERsec, Energy IoT, and partners from the Home Assistant ecosystem, is thrilled to announce a two-day hands-on event during this year’s Home Assistant Community Day.

This event builds on the momentum from SF Climate Week and aims to bring together technologists, open-source contributors, and energy professionals to explore the future of plug-and-play Distributed Energy Resource (DER) integration.
🔍 What to Expect
Hackathon Kickoff (May 233rd, 3 PM to 9 PM) – Teams will compete to prototype interoperable, open-source energy automation using Home Assistant, SunSpec Modbus, and Matter.
Community Day Showcase (May 24th, 10 AM to 4 PM – Public demos, partner booths, and talks from leading voices in smart home and grid innovation.
Attendees will get direct access to a live testbed of solar, batteries, EV chargers, and SunSpec-certified devices — plus guidance from industry veterans in cybersecurity, smart inverter communication, and DER orchestration.
