Belayer in partnership with the European Union Office in San Francisco is hosting an inaugural European Innovation Spotlight: Investor Panel + Pitch Competition for SFTechWeek on Wednesday, November 2nd at Ireland House at One Post St, San Francisco. This event will feature prominent Silicon Valley investors from Angels, Family Offices, Venture Capital and Corporate Venture Capital who will share their knowledge and insights on how to navigate fundraising in uncertain times.

In addition, the event will feature leading innovative European startups where they will do rapid pitches to a panel of judges. Did you know that Europe has now 132 unicorns that created over 135,000 jobs and have a combined valuation of more than EUR 370bn? In 2021 alone, there were 85 new unicorns in Europe across many sectors (for e.g., deep tech, fintech, health, energy, and clean tech). We look forward to hearing from five innovative European startups as they pitch investors plus the audience.

European Commission
The European Commission is the executive branch of the European Union. It operates the largest research funding program in the world ($100 bn), called Horizon Europe, that supports some of the greatest European innovations and innovators (https://www.innoradar.eu/). A key part of this program is the European Innovation Council which identifies, develops, and scales up breakthrough technologies and game changing innovations. A unique feature of the EIC is that it provides funding for individual companies (mainly startups and SMEs) through both grants and investments. The investments currently take the form of direct equity or quasi-equity investments and are managed by the EIC Fund.
