About Event

Laurelin Louder Fest: July 11-13

It’s Happening!  We're having a music, poetry, and arts fest upstate at the beautiful Laurelin Farms, situated in the heart of the Catskills outside of Delhi, NY.

A three day affair; Friday through Sunday. There are ponds and forests for hiking. A giant field for us all to camp on. A stage fully equipped with instruments and speakers.  And some large day tents to help stave off the sun. We'll have indie and folk bands, poets and speakers, and all sorts performing, as well as artists leading fun workshops. There'll be merriment and stories, jamming, open mics, comedy, a campfire; even a DJ for those that want to rave into the night.

There are two beautiful large fields for people to camp in.  People will need to be responsible for their tents, food, and drinks (there is access to potable water, but limited, so helpful to bring your own). Delhi is quite close (ten minute drive) to gather food and supplies. We'll have some food trucks on the property for the weekend as well. And we will have port-a-potties + basic first aid.

The main day will be Saturday. There'll be activities all day with time-allotted slots in which anyone can sign up to lead workshops, perform or jam on the main stage. Alternatively, you can just hang out, hike up Bramley Mountain, swim in the pond, drink some beer, and grill. It's a huge property so feel free to just go off and wander amongst the hiking trails.

Some of the incredible workshops already in the mix: Tye-dyeing, sound bath, yoga, group painting, collab songwriting, collab storytelling, drum circle, and more! If you want to lead one or perform just fill out the questionnaire once you register!

Saturday evening we will have a selection of bands perform on the main stage. Afterwards, in the night—we'll have a DJ performing in the main area, but also folksters and storytellers can go off to quieter areas and hang out, if people want to sleep early there's a section of the field that's further off and quieter.

What to bring:

We will send out a full suggested packing list, but for now in broad strokes, you'll want to bring:

  • Camping supplies (tent, sleeping bag, pillow, camping chair)

  • Food + Drinks

    • We will have food trucks to buy food. But yes...you are responsible for keeping yourself fed and hydrated! Making a little group is a good idea to make this easier!

  • Clothing

    • Prepare for hot days and cold nights. This means layers and warm socks at night

    • Decent shoes or boots

    • Bathing suit (for the pond)

    • Funky festive outfits if you so desire!

  • Misc

    • Sunscreen

    • Umbrella for the sun

    • Headlamp/flashlight

How to get there:

We'll be organizing some community ride-sharing for anyone who needs it. People can arrive starting Friday afternoon/evening and stay till Sunday. Saturday will be the main day and we'll have amazing programmed activities going all day/night.

Public transportation is not the best.  There are two buses a day that go from the Port Authority to Delhi, which is about six miles from our front door.

Pricing:

This fest is NOT FOR PROFIT :) We're here to create something wildly cool and memorable for all our friends! That said there are some expenses to making this thing happen with renting large tents, picnic tables, port-a-potties, event insurance, etc. We've estimated it's about $4000 total. We're committed to cost-sharing to make the whole thing as affordable as possible. If you can afford to help out, please do...if you can't, no worries, come and bring your shining, wonderful self.

To help out please venmo @Jack-Crawford-Brown

If we end up with any profit from donations after expenses, we will donate it to Education Through Music which is a wonderful NYC charity helping to fund music programs in under-resourced schools.
