Fuzz to Felt: Snapshots
In this edition of Fuzz to Felt, we’re making fuzzy NYC snapshots by needle felting!
Learn how wool turns to felt, what wool looks like during each part of its life-cycle, and what we can do with it by needle felting. We’ll look at what artists around the world are doing with felt using different felting techniques. From there we’ll design a 3” x 4.5” picture snapshot inspired by NYC specific nature (it exists!) by collaging together our favorite NYC backgrounds, plants, and animals. After creating our vision, we’ll do a demo on how to needle felt, build volume, and mix colors to create a snapshot that’s filled with color, texture, and personality. We’ll walk you through the process and answer questions as everyone’s project will be unique and you’ll leave with a needle felted work of art made by appreciating the nature all around us.
Arrive at our workshop ready to learn amongst a community of students. Whether you’ve needle felted before or are a complete beginner, let’s play with an artform that has endless possibilities!
IMPORTANT NOTES: All tickets are final sale. We are a shoes-off, socks-required space; please bring your own socks or we have some for purchase for $1. Our events are geared towards connection through creativity; for many, you will be sitting around shared tables. Unfortunately, during ticketed events, we are unable to accommodate any children/babies under 5 years of age. Dogs are also not permitted at events. Upon entering our space you are consenting to photography/videography that may be used for promotional purposes.
