Google's AI Co-scientist: A Multi-Agent System for Novel Hypothesis Generation
In this talk our guest, Anil Palepu, will explore an AI co-scientist developed at Google, a multi-agent system leveraging Gemini 2.0 to enhance scientific discovery through the generation and evolution of novel research hypotheses.
Inspired by the scientific method, their system employs a "generate, debate, and evolve" approach, significantly accelerated by an asynchronous task execution framework that allows for efficient test-time compute scaling.
While broadly applicable, their development and validation efforts have initially focused on key biomedical domains, including drug repurposing, novel target discovery, and elucidating mechanisms of bacterial evolution and antimicrobial resistance.
