The documentary Out of Fashion examines the environmental impact of fashion production, a topic Reet Aus began exploring during her doctoral thesis. The film deeply delves into one of the most challenging waste issues in the fashion industry—production waste—through a journey that led Aus and her co-filmmaker Jaak Kilmi to Bangladesh, a graveyard of production leftovers.
Join us for an insightful evening of film and discussion on these crucial topics.
More about Reet Aus:
During her doctoral thesis, designer and activist Reet Aus first began studying the environmental impact of fashion production. These studies took her to the epicentre of the fashion industry — Bangladesh — and later led her to create the UPMADE® certification system, which enables designers to reduce production waste in factories in Bangladesh as well as Turkey, Poland, Kenya and Estonia.
