About Event

Embark on a dynamic 2-hour session exploring the collaborative role of national and international promotion banks across national borders to tackle global challenges. Representatives from different countries will share and discuss insights on financing the circular economy, emphasising the significance of collaborations.

This unprecedented gathering aims to catalyse international cooperation beyond just Europe, involving Multilateral Development Banks, policymakers, governmental representatives, and experts for a more interconnected and impactful future in the financial sector.

11:05-11:25 Promoting investment into the circular economy with public funds

Moderator: Vanessa Paul, Media Officer, EIB 

Bettina Dorendorf, Senior Sustainability Manager, at KfW’s Domestic Strategy and Steering Unit, will present the key take-aways from the last 5 years of experience of the Joint Initiative on Circular Economy: the successes and activities carried out, but also the challenges and the evolving regulatory framework

Guy de Sevaux, Lead of Biobased & Circular Economy from Invest-NL will talk about what the experience of Invest-NL has been in financing the CE in the Netherlands.

JICE members also raise awareness about the circular economy and provide technical assistance and advice to clients. Dorothee Teichmann, CE/JASPERS Economist in the Circular Economy and Sustainable Development Division, from EIB, will explain how advisory services can be crucial for getting circular economy projects off the ground. 

11:25-11:55 Guided Dialogue - Views from the frontline: private sector actors and catalysts 

Moderator: Vanessa Paul, Media Officer, EIB 

Marguerite Descamps, Head of Development Support, BPI France, Margot Pejaudier, Eco-designer, Coopérative Mu and Floriane Bimbert, Product Designer, Gainerie 91, will talk about the huge potential for circularity for ec0-design and SMEs, talking about their experience of working together and highlighting learnings and challenges. 

Susanne Kadner, Co-founder and Director of CIRCULAR REPUBLIC, will give view from a circular economy catalyst, active in both helping to set up the Circular Economy Roadmap for Germany and working with startups.
