About Event

In this workshop, artist Ocean Escalanti provides an introductory presentation into the world of Natural Dyeing. There will be a short presentation on urban foraging ethics, local plants to look out for in the San Francisco Bay Area, and food scraps to save for the purpose of achieving natural color. Participants will view some natural dyed examples and take home a do-it-yourself natural dye zine while gaining insight into sustainable practices and indigenous knowledge.

Ocean Escalanti (She/Her) is an indigenous artist and writer residing in Oakland, CA. She is a self-taught natural dye and urban foraging enthusiast focusing on the human and nature symbiosis. Ocean presents dye workshops and works at NIAD Art Center in Richmond, CA.

Registration is one per person only.
