About Event

It has been less than a year since generative artificial intelligence (AI) systems like ChatGPT burst onto the scene and captured the popular imagination. In the face of this world-changing technology, everyone from marketing professionals and software developers to novelists and musicians finds themselves grappling with existential questions about the meaning and substance of their livelihoods.

Join a panel of literary, musical, and digital artists for a special two-hour interactive event to engage with the thorny philosophical and practical questions raised by generative AI. The event is facilitated by dialogue specialist Monica Cure and hosted by Shuffle Collective. Using Monica’s unique question-based methodology for exploring difficult issues, the discussion will extend beyond the panel to include audience members so we can all enlarge our understanding of, and relationship with, this new challenge.

We will examine such questions as:

  • How does our perception of generative AI as an existential threat shape our response to it?

  • What do we value about human creativity?

  • How can we take advantage of generative AI without compromising our careers or our values?

  • What does it mean to be human in an age when machines do more tasks that previously only humans could do?

  • What might it look like to engage AI as a partner or complement to human talents?

  • How can we guard against the potentially destructive elements of AI?

Participate in this special event to enlarge your perspective on this important emerging topic and work through the issues raised for creative humans by generative AI.
