Upcycled & Unstoppable : Pioneering The Future of Sustainable Innovation
👋 Join Us!
Food is not garbage but we treat it like trash! How we deal with our kitchen scraps, industrial food waste, and surplus food can help us save money, energy, and cultivate a more resilient food system. As part of the Food Sustainability Track of LA Climate Week, Seeds of Hope is hosting a full day dedicated to Food Rescue & Upcycling. Enjoy scrappy cooking demos, upcycling innovations, and composting workshops with local food hubs, upcycling activists, and food waste pioneers. 🤙 About This Event :
What if waste was the key to a more sustainable, equitable future? In this boundary-pushing panel, visionaries from across food, materials, and technology come together to explore how upcycling is reshaping entire industries—from what we eat to what we build.
Join Seeds of Hope and FoodxClimate for an inspiring conversation featuring:
Gabe Tavas, founder of Symmetry Wood, transforming agricultural waste into beautiful, functional biobased materials for fashion, furniture, and beyond.
Jordan Schenck, President&COO at Flashfood, driving food rescue innovation at scale while fighting food insecurity.
Dr. Lara Ramdin, Circular Systems Expert and Upcycled Food Foundation Board members, championing the power of food systems innovation to tackle waste and climate challenges.
Together, these changemakers will dive into how we can upcycle food waste into nutritious products, innovative materials like textiles and wood alternatives, and even solutions for construction—replacing extractive processes with regenerative practices.
Expect bold ideas, practical pathways, and cross-industry collaboration insights that move us beyond sustainability toward transformation. If you believe the future is circular, this panel will fuel your fire.
If you’re passionate about sustainable food solutions, climate action, or cutting-edge culinary innovation, this conversation is for you. Come learn, get inspired, and be part of the movement redefining food waste! ♻️🍽✨
🙌 Event Hosts
Seeds of Hope cultivates wellness and food justice by helping communities reconnect with fresh, healthy food. We distribute more than 70,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables weekly, establish community gardens, and provide education on gardening, composting, healthy cooking, and food preservation to increase nutrition and minimize food waste.
Food x Climate is a group of climate-minded food innovators and activists seeking solutions to one of the most critical yet underserved areas of the climate fight: Food and Climate. Current estimates suggest that we can do everything else right and still lose the fight for a healthy environment if we don’t sufficiently decarbonize food!
