โ€‹CO2 Removal Challenge 2023 ๐ŸŒ

โ€‹Welcome to the CO2 Removal Challenge 2023 co-organised by the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Innovation Division (OIST Innovation) and Lifetime Ventures.

โ€‹This 2-day Direct Air Carbon Capture (DACC) design hackathon empowers next-generation climate enthusiasts to explore their innovative ideas with guidance from climate experts.

โ€‹The Challenge ๐Ÿ’ช

โ€‹DACC is one of the promising solutions to remove CO2 directly from the atmosphere. While some approaches have been proposed, the key challenge is producing systems more affordably and with greater scalability.

โ€‹During this challenge, you, as a team of 2-3 will:

  • โ€‹learn about the existing DACC efforts

  • โ€‹design your own DACC solutions with the help of climate experts

  • โ€‹propose how your solution can be cheaper and more scalable than existing alternatives

โ€‹Researchers, young professionals, students, and other climate enthusiasts who want to:

  • โ€‹proactively tackle the climate crisis (no prior DACC knowledge required, but preferred)

  • โ€‹contribute to the global open-source DACC efforts

  • โ€‹connect with likeminded, entrepreneurial peers

  • โ€‹learn from climate experts

  • โ€‹have fun along the way

โ€‹You ideally:

  • โ€‹have a background in natural sciences, chemistry, engineering, and or business

  • โ€‹can join in person for the whole challenge

  • โ€‹are entrepreneurial-minded and up for a fun challenge!
