About Event

Its a community driven meetup. There is no workshop/tutorial/anchor/compere. Here everyone is an equal participant. However we need some guidelines to get the conversation going. Here is a format:

  1. Bring a book (or two) which you have read and would like to speak about. Paper/e-book/tablet/phone all are fine.

  2. All books are allowed - fiction, non-fiction, graphics novels, poetry etc. There are no banned books.

  3. We go in round each person gets turn to speak about the book(s) they have gotten and then a open discussion about the book. Can be anything - like what was good/bad about it, what you found interesting etc.

  4. Its better to let the person introducing the book complete what they have to say before pitching your opinion.

  5. Its OK to quote movies, series, blogs, TV or social media as long as they are examples for your thoughts than being central part. Lets focus on reading here.

  6. The discussions are open ended but they are around the book, writers, reading and bookstores.

Code Of Conduct

The first 3 points are taken from Rust's CoC https://www.rust-lang.org/policies/code-of-conduct

  1. We are committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all, regardless of level of experience, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, personal appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, age, religion, nationality, or other similar characteristic.

  2. Respect that people have differences of opinion and that every design or implementation choice carries a trade-off and numerous costs. There is seldom a right answer.

  3. We will exclude you from interaction if you insult, demean or harass anyone. That is not welcome behavior. We interpret the term “harassment” as including the definition in the Citizen Code of Conduct; if you have any lack of clarity about what might be included in that concept, please read their definition. In particular, we don’t tolerate behavior that excludes people in socially marginalized groups.

  4. You mayn't agree with author, book, reader or opinions discussed. Totally fine. You can disagree and still be respectful.

  5. Don't monopolise the time. Please allow others to speak.
