In collaboration with Bright Moments Gallery, Tyler Hobbs presents a new body of work: 100 generative pieces minted on-site in the heart of SOHO.
Incomplete Control deals heavily with imperfection. I have always been interested in the presence of imperfection in the analog world, and the relative absence of it in the digital world. The forces of chaos and entropy give the natural world a certain warmth, and there are patterns and lessons there that we can use. I like to introduce these elements into the digital world, and Incomplete Control continues that work.
Time is an important element of visual art, even when the art is static. Every work takes a certain amount of time to achieve impact, another length of time to achieve understanding, and a further length of time to reach exhaustion. On this spectrum, Incomplete Control is a slower work. The imagery provides space and time to breathe. I hope that collectors will enjoy the large, high-quality prints that will be offered. Prints are an ideal way to capture the full detail of complex and subtle works like these.
With 100 mints, Incomplete Control is a more focused work than my previous project, Fidenza. It does not have the same goal of high variety. Instead, it goes deeper into a particular vision. Quality over quantity. There will not be a focus on rarity. Instead, Incomplete Control will explore a continuous spectrum.
It has been a pleasure to focus on creating this artwork, and I look forward to sharing the results with you all.
