About Event

Join the NBMBAA Philly Chapter and One Group at The Wells Fargo Center in the Hall of Fame Room for an inspiring panel that promises to challenge the status quo and empower financial change. "BREAKING BARRIERS" is designed for those who are eager to push beyond their limits and explore new horizons. Set for May 30, 2024, from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM, this event will delve into discussions that spotlight the obstacles that hinder progress in our community and explore actionable strategies to overcome them. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals committed to making a difference.

The panelists will educate participants on the impact Black Wall Street had on their careers and success while offering insight to students, entrepreneurs, and other professionals on the importance of moving forward and giving back.

This panel takes place on the anniversary of The TULSA RACE MASSACRE. Between May 31st and June 1st, mobs of white residents attacked Black residents and destroyed businesses of The Greenwood District in Tulsa, OK. This event is considered one of the worst incidents of racial violence in American history. The attackers burned and destroyed more than 35 square blocks of the neighborhood — at the time, one of the wealthiest black communities in the United States, colloquially known as "Black Wall Street."

The panel features Michael Green, The Founder and CEO of Atlanta-based Sophy Companies, which acquires and develops public and private real estate, commercial retail properties, and real estate technologies. Sophy's most notable acquisition is Atlanta's Civic Center, a historic 20-acre site that will include a performing arts center, a school for the arts, and mixed-income housing—creating an innovative arts district in the city's center.

The panel will also feature Adeola Adejobi, the Founder and CEO of the Avant-Garde Network (AGN). AGN is a leading social impact company which creates social and economic impact through a collaborative ecosystem of industry professionals, business leaders and entrepreneurs. Adeola is a nationally recognized speaker and leader in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in business, entrepreneurship and real estate..

Lastly, Gary Bickham, a financial advisor at Citizens Wealth Management, will also join our panel. Gary uses a consultative based approach to develop customized plans that incorporate asset allocation, wealth management, retirement, income and succession planning, along with protection strategies.

The panel moderator is CNBC's own Frank Holland. Frank is the host of CNBC's Worldwide Exchange, which is held every weekday morning, where he reports various financial news. He's also a contributor to CNBC's Equity and Opportunity column.
