Here's how it works:

Every day we get on a call at 10:30AM ET, to discuss our goals for the week, yesterday's success/failures, and our plans for today.

Dead simple. Really useful.

00:00 - 00:05 asynch time writing our updates
00:05 - 00:20 "popcorn" style updates

This takes about 20 minutes and it's been a huge motivation boost since I started.

Motivation:

When you go from having coworkers to working solo it can be a jarring experience. We get used to having someone else impose a structure on us and when it's gone it's easy to feel suddenly overwhelmed.

This standup is a really lightweight way to give yourself some structure throughout the week.

Stick with it for 1-2 weeks and I guarantee you will get more done and feel great doing it.
