Climate Circle Lisbon presents....Work on Climate.
We are a group of people that meet up once a month to learn, network and talk about all things climate. Join us at our next one in the Goethe Institute!
We have a slot for two speakers, a Q&A session on the subject in focus (Health & Climate), as well as a discussion circle and networking session at the end.
Meet the speakers:
Sam Macintosh (Mayer), Health Policy Expert, Advisor at WHO and Vice President of END Fund. Sam works at the intersection of climate change, health systems and global equity. He currently serves on the Steering Committee for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) Research and Development at the World Health Organization, where he contributes to strategic planning and research analysis. In parallel, he advises the WHO Task Team on Climate Change and NTDs, helping assess the impact of climate change on achieving the 2030 NTD targets and recommending mitigation strategies.
Hans Eickhoff, Medical Doctor, Researcher and Activist. Hans is a surgeon with over 30 years of clinical experience and a PhD in Health Sciences, specializing in metabolic surgery. Currently pursuing a second PhD in Human Ecology, his research explores how concepts of health, illness, and death are being redefined in the Anthropocene. His recent work, including a publication based on survey data from the 9th International Degrowth Conference, critically examines the ecological footprint of healthcare systems, the medicalization of society, and the limitations of the dominant biomedical model. Hans is an active member of the Degrowth Network Portugal.
