Opening Reception: In The Heart of Here
Join us for the opening reception of In the Heart of Here, a celebration of landscapes and the unique perspectives they inspire. This exhibition brings together local Winnipeg artists whose portrayals of natural scenes are as diverse and layered as their own personal journeys.
Don't miss out on an evening of creativity and connection on Friday, Dec 6th. Meet the artists, connect with fellow art lovers, and discover fresh viewpoints on familiar spaces.
Drinks and snacks will be provided, courtesy of our venue sponsor, Launch Co-working.
About the Artists
Winnipeg-based artist Chris Simonite combines Cubism and pop culture in his “Cubo-Weirdism” style, creating eerie landscapes that reflect the impact of environmental harm on wildlife. Influenced by Picasso and George Condo, his works mix traditional portraiture with abstract forms, urging viewers to rethink society’s detachment from nature and its consequences. Simonite’s unique approach has earned him international exhibitions and a dedicated following as a member of the Frost Shield Kerfuffle Collective.
Ukrainian-born artist Eugene Kabrun, now based in Manitoba, Canada, has nurtured his passion for fine art since childhood, creating works across landscapes, still lifes, and portraits that resonate deeply with viewers. Known for his versatile painting styles, Kabrun’s art has been showcased in galleries across Canada and the U.S., including the Dow Art Gallery in Minnesota and a solo exhibit at the Steinbach Arts Council. His work has also been highlighted in various media outlets, including CityNews Winnipeg, TruckNews, and The Carillon.
