🎲 Board Game Night: Codenames

​Board games are back at the Indy Hall Clubhouse! Bring your spy gear and activate stealth mode, this event’s theme is Deduction.

​We’ll wet the palate with a short game of Love Letter before moving on to our main event (and Indy Hall favorite) Codenames. Can’t wait to play with you! Info about both games is below if you’d like to dig in ahead of time, but we will go over the rules again in person if anyone hasn’t played before.

​Warm up game: Love Letter

​The noble Princess is looking for an ideal partner and confidant to help with her royal duties when she one day assumes the throne. You must prove your worth and gain her trust by enlisting allies, friends, and family of the Princess to carry a letter of intent to her. Can you earn the Princess' trust and become her confidant?

​Playing cards one at a time, players use the abilities of these key people in the Princess' life to outwit their opponents and successfully deliver their letter and gain her favor. Players must utilize each character's special skill to avoid being caught and successfully deliver their letter to the Princess. Once a set number of favor tokens are acquired, that player wins and becomes the Princess' confidant.

​Main event: Codenames

​In Codenames, two rival spymasters know the secret identities of 25 agents. Their teammates know the agents only by their codenames — single-word labels like "disease", "Germany", or "carrot". The spymasters both want their team to identify their agents first... without uncovering the assassin by mistake.

​Each turn, the spymaster for the round gives a small hint to help their team. Clues consist of a single word and a number, which suggests how many of the cards in play have some association with the clue word. Can you tease out the clues and find your agents before your rivals? Or will you be taken out by the assassin?
