About Saikat

Saikat Chakrabarti was born in Fort Worth, TX, to immigrants from India. He came to San Francisco after college in 2009, like so many others, with dreams of making a difference and fell in love with the city. He started his own company here before joining Stripe as its second engineer.

He left Stripe to join Bernie’s 2016 campaign where he traveled the country building tools that powered Bernie’s unprecedented grassroots movement. On that campaign, he met an incredible group of leaders and together they launched an effort to recruit a new generation to Congress called Justice Democrats.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was a member of their first class of recruits. He ran her 2018 campaign before going into Congress as her Chief of Staff, where he was in charge of developing and launching the Green New Deal.

He now leads a policy think tank devoted to developing comprehensive plans for how the government can deliver prosperity and economic security for all Americans through an economic mobilization to build a clean economy for the U.S. and the world.

You can read more about his policy vision at Mission for America. He has a climate-centered, pro-housing, pro-public transit agenda.
