


Day Trip | Les Angles: Snow, Animals and Toboggan
Located in the department of Pyrénées-Orientales, in the Occitanie region, Les Angles is one of the top destinations for winter sports.
The first mentions of Les Angles date back to 965 when these lands were donated by the Count of Cerdanya, Sunifred, to the Abbey of Saint-Michel-de-Cuxa. In 1106, the Archbishop of Narbonne consecrated the church of St. Sauveur des Angles, around which a small village began to develop.
Itinerary:
7:30 Departure from Plaza España, next to the Venetian towers.
10:00-10:30 Arrival at Les Angles.
Once there, you can enjoy the following activities freely:
Skiing or snowboarding: The bus will drop us off near the rental shops. Ski rental costs about €25 (includes poles, boots, skis, and helmet), while snowboard rental is approximately €35 (includes helmet, board, and boots).
Lou Bac Mountain toboggan: Located a few meters from where the bus stops, in the heart of the village.
Explore the village, its gastronomy, and its scenic views.
For those interested in group activities:
11:00-13:00 Visit to the Les Angles Nature Reserve, where you can observe animals like bears, lynxes, deer, wild boars, wolves, and more in semi-freedom. The reserve is located 2 km from the village, accessible by bus. The cost is €15 per person (not included in the trip price).
13:00 onward The bus will return to the village. You can continue exploring, enjoy Lou Bac Mountain, or try the local cuisine.
16:15 Departure back to Barcelona.
19:30 Arrival in Barcelona.
A Brief History of Les Angles:
Between the 14th century and mid-20th century, the village’s population density fluctuated significantly due to wars and agricultural declines. In 1964, the construction of the ski resort marked the beginning of a steady population growth, driven by tourism and its contribution to the local economy.
Les Angles Ski Resort:
The resort spans 55 km of slopes for all levels, with an elevation range of 800 meters. Its highest point reaches 2,400 meters, making it one of the largest ski resorts in the Pyrénées-Orientales. It features 45 diverse trails that alternate between pine forests and open areas, creating a truly unique skiing experience.

Les Angles Animal Park:
Located at the foot of the Pla Del Mir slopes, this park covers 37 hectares of pine forest at 1,800 meters altitude. Animals live semi-freely in a natural environment. Visitors can follow a circular route to see species like bears, lynxes, deer, wolves, and more.
Lou Bac Mountain Toboggan:
Ranked among the world's top 10 attractions, this alpine toboggan run features a forest descent of over 2.5 km with a 450-meter drop, reaching speeds of up to 42 km/h. The route winds through high mountain meadows and forests at altitudes between 2,100 and 1,620 meters.
