The AI Scientist: Towards Fully Automated Open-Ended Scientific Discovery
As many in the AI industry say, one of the main capabilities of AGI would be conducting scientific research and discovering new knowledge. Even though advanced AI models are already being used by scientists, for example, for brainstorming ideas, writing code, or prediction tasks, they still perform only a small part of the scientific process.
In this talk, the main authors of the paper 'The AI Scientist: Towards Fully Automated Open-Ended Scientific Discovery' will present their research work to the BuzzRobot community.
This paper presents a framework for fully automatic scientific discovery, enabling large language models to conduct research independently and communicate their findings.
As the authors explain, the AI Scientist generates novel research ideas, writes code, executes experiments, visualizes results, describes its findings by writing a full scientific paper, and then runs a simulated review process for evaluation.
