Restaurant Takeover: Bicho Mau
Our Love Note
Dear OTCers,
As the first days of spring unfold, bringing warmth and renewal, I couldn’t think of a better time to gather around the table, share a meal, and celebrate the season of new beginnings.
For this night only, BichoMau is all ours! This menu has been crafted with love, not just by an incredible chef, but by a dear friend of mine - Chef Tomás - with whom I shared unforgettable moments in the wild energy of music festivals nearly 15 years ago. Now, instead of sound and lights, we come together over flavours and stories, creating new memories with every bite.
Seats are limited, but the warmth of the evening will be boundless. Let’s welcome the season, raise our glasses, and savour the magic of good food and even better company.
With love,
António & The OTC Team
Bistrô BichoMau – A Rebel with a Cause in Lisbon’s Culinary Scene
Tucked away in the charming Campo de Ourique neighborhood, Bistrô BichoMau is a daring yet intimate eatery where bold flavors, creativity, and seasonal ingredients take center stage.
Co-founded by Chef Tomás Rocha and Rita Gama, the bistro’s name - “BichoMau" (Bad Bug) - pays homage to Rita’s childhood nickname, setting the tone for a playful and unpretentious dining experience.
With an ever-evolving seasonal menu, BichoMau thrives on surprise, offering inventive reinterpretations of classic flavours. Signature dishes like "The Pig That Wanted to Be a Sheep”, a clever take on pork belly prepared with techniques traditionally used for lamb, showcase the kitchen’s wit and technical prowess. Dishes such as "Kraken in the Forest," featuring tender squid plated on an artistic bed of moss, highlight the restaurant’s flair for storytelling through food.
The bistro’s cozy yet edgy atmosphere, paired with its thoughtfully curated wine selection, makes it the perfect spot for adventurous food lovers looking to step beyond the conventional. At Bicho Mau, every plate tells a story of passion, craftsmanship, and a touch of irreverence.
