About Event

What to expect:

Ever wondered what it’s like to experience the world as a worm?

In this imaginative nature-inspired workshop, we’ll step into the lives of the humble creature through collective reflection and creativity. With hands-on support and tailored exercises, we’ll create a worm-inspired costume using scrap fabrics, paint and cardboard—no sewing skills required!

This is a chance to step out of human routines, let loose, and see the world from the ground up. We’ll finish by sharing our “worm wishes” for the earth, giving voice to what we think worms might wish for.

Expect a safe space for unrestricted creativity, a bit of play, and a new way of connecting with the non-human world—and maybe a few new worm friends, too.

This workshop is hosted by Babette van Gerwen, in partnership with St Margaret's House.

Who is this event for?

Everyone is welcome, this event is suitable for all ages and abilities.

Who is Babette van Gerwen?

"I’m a community-driven artist with a background in geography, exploring the many ways nature touches us in our everyday lives. Working primarily with painting, performance, and film, I highlight the beauty, absurdity, and aliveness of nature, especially in places where it often goes unnoticed.

I co-run an arts initiative called Sundial Arts, which empowers creativity and deepens connections to nature within our community. We aim to inspire a greater appreciation of the environment through accessible art workshops, offering space for reflection on both our collective and individual relationships with the natural world."
