Understanding Menstrual Health Experiences using a Biopsychosocial approach.
Menstrual health is far more than a biological process—it is shaped by a complex interplay of psychological, social, and biological factors. This webinar invites you to learn about how we can apply established theoretical health psychology models, specifically The Biopsychosocial Model and The lllness Representation Model, to understand menstrual health experiences from a more holistic perspective. During the webinar, I will share the findings of the research study I carried out during my Health Psychology Master’s last year, which recruited over a 1000 UK-based menstruating individuals to understand the role of psychological factors in predicting the severity of menstrual health symptoms. The session will shed light on the importance of considering several factors when trying to understand menstrual health, as well as the limitations in the literature that currently exists.
