This is a hike for which a Forestry permit has to be paid. We will accept payments until Wednesday 18/06/2025 - 11:59 pm. If you click 'Attending' but haven't paid the fee, we will have to revert your status to 'Not Attending'.

After a failed attempt to enjoy the waterfall due to the swarms of bees, we hike to the Jeram Perlus waterfall again while it's not the 'bee season'...

The first part of the trail is mostly gently uphill with only a few hiccups here and there.

Only when we are very, very close to the southeast side of the Empangan Hulu Langat, we made a sharp 90 degrees turn and the incline becomes steeper, but no worries the climb is absolutely not that long.

The vegetation changes frequently and this is a hike with much variation in a relatively unspoilt environment. After 2 to 3 hours of hiking pleasure we'll hear the sound of the rapids, indicating that we are pretty close to the waterfall.

A narrow trail along the stream brings us further upstream and the waterfall in all its glory comes finally in sight. There is a small pool and a mini waterfall in front of the main waterfall.

The impressive Jeram Perlus waterfall has its own pool, but bigger and deeper. Ideal for a refreshing dip...

This is a slightly longer hike, about 18 kilometres in total, but it should not be a problem for anyone with a moderate fitness level.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you have a gps navigation app (like ~in alphabetical order~ AllTrails (paid version), Gaia, Hiiker, Komoot, Maps.me, OSMAnd, Wikiloc,...) installed on your phone and make sure that it is working properly. If you don't have an app installed yet, we suggest to use Hiiker to start with. Once you have downloaded the offline map of Malaysia, you can easily import and navigate any gpx file. More info can be found in the Knowledge Base sub Event Information (general) - How to prepare myself for navigation...?

Do not come to the venue if you have not pre-installed a gps navigation app at home, or have not downloaded the map of Malaysia at home, or have not opened the test gpx file at home. Every week, we notice that too many hikers arrive just before the event starts and are absolutely not prepared which is jeopardising the scheduled timing of the event. Especially iPhone users are urged to make sure that they can open the test gpx file at home and are able to navigate.

This is a self-guided hike. You will receive a gpx file at the trailhead and you will have to navigate yourself. There will be no paper markers. For those who are not familiar with gps navigation, you will be guided but still have to use your own navigation app on your phone.

By 12:30 pm all hikers should have left the waterfall area and by 03:00 pm the last hikers should have reached the car park again.

Do note that the indicated meet-up time is not the time you should arrive at the meet-up location. It is the time that the hike effectively starts.

All details can be found in the Knowledge Base.

Also the explanation of the rating can be found in the Knowledge Base sub Event Information (general) - How to understand the rating system...?

It is compulsory that you respect physical distancing and the SOPs in place.
