Unplugged silent "cafe"
Come for a Sunday morning mini-retreat from conversation or devices. Bring a book, sketchbook/journal, homework, mending project, or just meditate in silence*, alongside others who are doing the same. (Or come empty-handed — we'll have a handful of books and art/writing supplies to share.) Be in community without using up your social energy!
There will be table space with folding chairs spaced not too closely together, and a couple of softer chairs, and one yoga mat and meditation cushion available.
Here's the "cafe" part: We'll provide some loose-leaf tea options and maybe homemade scones, or you can pick up something from the lovely cafes in the neighborhood (Dek Doi is downstairs, Tea on Piedmont across the street).
All ages welcome, but the aim is for this to be a quiet space, so keep that in mind when deciding whether to bring kiddos. (There is a courtyard right outside the door if a baby fusses or you need to have a conversation!) Also, some of the art in the studio is not kid-appropriate, but can probably be covered/hidden if need be. Please ask if you have questions.
This event is free to attend, but tips are very much appreciated!
*We might possibly put on some soft music, if it feels like it's needed.
