About Event

Imagine walking away from a dating event actually excited to text the people you met. No awkward small talk, no wasted time—just genuine chemistry with people you're interested in.

At The Match Experiment, every moment is designed to help you connect beyond small talk. Leave with matches — or get your money back.

This event sells out every time. Apply now for your best shot at admission.

Katie & John (pictured in cover photo) met through our programs, and say “there is no better place to meet a partner. Period.

Other past event attendees say:

“I’ve been to seven different speed dating events and this one was the most well-run and interesting.”

“It was a really fun way to get to know people and have a more genuine conversation.”

What will we be doing at the event?
Unlike traditional speed dating, where you get the same amount of time with everyone, The Match Experiment is built so you can spend more time with the people you're most interested in.

Here's how it works:

  • Group icebreakers: Get comfortable in the space

  • Lightning round: Meet everyone of the opposite gender

  • Mid-event matching: Share who you're most interested in (data will be kept confidential)

  • Longer dates: Go on a few longer dates with the people you’re most interested in and who are most interested in you

  • Final matching: Fill out a form with the folks you want to match with and we'll email out the matches after the event.

What makes this different from any other speed dating?

  • More time with the people you're most attracted to

  • Higher-quality conversations & connections

  • A full refund if you don't match at the end of the event — no questions asked

Who will be attending this event?

  • We carefully curate the group to ensure a great experience—just answer a few quick questions when registering.

  • There will be an equal number of men and women at the event

  • We will admit a balance of Commons members and non-Commons members— we know you want to meet new people!

  • Age range: 25-35

  • For logistical reasons, this event is designed for men attracted to women and women attracted to men. We know this does not encapsulate the full range of peoples’ experiences; if you have questions or want us to host for different groups, please let us know at info@sleepawake.camp.

Authentic connection sounds like a lot for a first date! Why don’t we stick with small talk?

Small talk can be a great way to get to know your date! It is important in all relationships to share the details of our lives – our jobs, our friends, our hobbies.

There are other ways to connect on a date, too—when we open up beyond small talk, we create new possibilities for joy, trust, and connection.

We created this event because we think folks generally find it easier to stay with the small talk. Sometimes that’s exactly what’s needed – and sometimes we find ourselves in small talk loops, dissatisfied with the depth of the connection, but unsure what to do about it. This event is a playground for experimenting with these other aspects of connection and finding what joy might be available on the other side.

What if I feel shy, or don’t want to do the guided activities?
Great! We will provide clear and easy ways to opt in and out of all of the activities we offer at this event.

Part of the exciting thing about this event is that the activities are new for many people – and with that, we know that some of them might approach the edge of your comfort zone. If the activities weren’t new, this would just be a run-of-the-mill dating event. We’re conscious about holding those two things in balance, so we’ll offer gentle, accessible invitations that you can tailor to any level of connection you’re excited about.
