βββββποΈAbout this hike:
Try this 6.4-km out-and-back trail near Macoah, British Columbia. Generally considered a challenging route.
βYou'll need to leave pups at home β dogs aren't allowed on this trail. This trail should only be attempted by those with good hiking experience as this is a very steep route following a waterfall with a lot of exposed sections and some scrambling involved. Proceed with caution and at your own risk.
βTo reach the trailhead, you will have to follow the Marion Creek Forest Service Road for 10 kilometres (~800m past the 5040 trailhead and then down to the right). A vehicle with at least 1 foot of clearance is highly recommended.
βAbout half of the trail is under tree cover while the other half is exposed to the sun, so sun protection and water are necessary. Here is where you will be using your hands to pull yourself up an exposed rockface for 75 per cent of the trail, but no gear is required. At some point during this trail, you will be required to leap across a 2 foot wide crevasse.
βThe descent will be more challenging, especially on the steep sections. The entire way up this trail presents you with beautiful views of the diverse flora and fauna of this area and the magnificent waterfalls spanning from the alpine lake to the river below. Once you reach the alpine lake, you will truly appreciate all the effort put in for this hike as it is absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. This alpine lake is a great place to go for a swim before heading down.
