🟠Biodiversity: The final frontier in sustainability
This event is part of The Drop 2024. To attend, you must have a ticket to The Drop. Apply for a Drop 2024 ticket.
Session Overview: Our social and economic structures are untenable without biodiversity and ecosystem services. Improving biodiversity outcomes presents a massive $10+ trillion opportunity by 2030 and is an emerging investment priority. It will require a portfolio of actions across all sectors, including reimagining how we build and design cities and infrastructure, rethinking how we use land, freshwater, and oceans, and transforming how we extract and use energy and resources. This Ripple will be geared towards participants discussing ways to achieve better biodiversity outcomes by transforming existing systems that degrade nature and directly valuing ecosystem services.
Key Questions:
Within each of our funds, how do we approach biodiversity and what kinds of biodiversity opportunities are we considering?
What do we see fitting well into a venture-based approach? What opportunities should access different parts of the capital stack?
Based on the investable universe today, are there 2-3 pieces of advice you would share with biodiversity-positive startups?
What policies or mechanisms might widen the scope of what’s attractive to investors?
Are we dependent on policy change to value ecosystem services, or can voluntary approaches work too?
Who should attend? Founders of startups that rely on natural systems. Asset allocators either currently deploying, or considering deploying, into biodiversity startups - as well as those looking to raise funding for similar themes.
