#ThePitchRoomAfrica with Guest Sheldon Tatchell
The goal of entreprenuership is to provide evidence of economic growth at both micro and macro levels. So when Sheldon started his barbing shop, little was known about where he will be today. Sheldon has not only proven what it takes to be bullish but has further re-establish the mandate of entrepreneurship built on the back of a focused vision. We have invited Sheldon to take us through his journey while touching on the controversial structures of barriers that make it difficult for others to succeed as much as he has.
Brief on Sheldon:
Sheldon Tatchell is the founder and owner of Legends Barbershop, a brand that has fast become a luminary among South Africans.
From humble beginnings back in 2011, on a stoep in Eldorado Park to 66 stores later employing over 400 staff members across the SADC region the journey and the vision continues.
2014 was a watershed year for Legends Barber Shop since it represented its rebirth and the year in which the concept really took off. Sheldon decided to go solo in the business and, despite the fact that he was still employed with Standard Bank on a full-time basis, opened the first fully-fledged Legends Barber Shop in Crystal Mall in Eldorado Park. By September of the same year, the success of the shop allowed him to resign from his day job and in July 2015, he opened a second branch in Florida on the West Rand.
To date, 65 Legendary stores have opened their doors within South Africa and some parts of Africa. With the vision still continuing Sheldon has become a force to be reckoned with and a mainstream hero among millennials
