Along the construction site of the EKVE lies a set of hills, known as the Sungai Long Hills. There are not only several hills, which are not easy to differentiate, but also with different levels, definitely adding to the confusion. Bottom line however is that there are plenty of uphill and downhill sections.

The future of the Sungai Hills however looks very bleak. Though still relatively quiet because the EKVE project isn't completed yet, a new scar is visible. The EKVE cut the green long in two in a vertical manner, while the widened and tarred Persiaran SL 7a cuts the green zone horizontal, allowing motorised vehicles to pass over the hills while heading in the direction of the Tekala Recreational Area and Nirvana in Semenyih. The south side of Sungai Long Hill Park is now completely destroyed. Other plots of land are for sale and it might not take that long anymore before hikers are no longer allowed.

So let's enjoy it while we still can. The total distance will be around six kilometres, but do not underestimate this hike because most hikers would experience a more difficult hike than the IBP rating indicates.

We have included two sections with faint or no visible trails; the ideal chance and opportunity to put your navigational skills to the test. There is an alternative for those who are not up to these scrambling sections.

There are options to take shortcuts if you are familiar with the area or have basic navigational skills.

Towards the end of the hike, there is a small waterfall .

IMPORTANT: Make sure you have a gps navigation app (like ~in alphabetical order~ AllTrails (paid version), Gaia, Hiiker, Komoot, Maps.me, OSMAnd, Wikiloc,...) installed on your phone and make sure that it is working properly. If you don't have an app installed yet, we suggest to use Hiiker to start with. Once you have downloaded the offline map of Malaysia, you can easily import and navigate any gpx file. More info can be found in the Knowledge Base sub Event Information (general) - How to prepare myself for navigation...?

Do not come to the venue if you have not pre-installed a gps navigation app at home, or have not downloaded the map of Malaysia at home, or have not opened the test gpx file at home. Every week, we notice that too many hikers arrive just before the event starts and are absolutely not prepared which is jeopardising the scheduled timing of the event. Especially iPone users are urged to make sure that they can open the test gpx file at home and are able to navigate.

This is a self-guided hike. You will receive a gpx file at the trailhead and you will have to navigate yourself. There will be no paper markers. For those who are not familiar with gps navigation, you will be guided but still have to use your own navigation app on your phone.

By 12:30 pm all hikers should have reached the car park again.

Do note that the indicated meet-up time is not the time you should arrive at the meet-up location. It is the time that the hike effectively starts. The QR code for the gpx file can be scanned at the trailhead from 08:15 am onwards. You can start your hike at any time between 08:15 am and 09:00 am.

All details can be found in the Knowledge Base.

Also the explanation of the rating can be found in the Knowledge Base sub Event Information (general) - How to understand the rating system...?

It is compulsory that you respect physical distancing and the SOPs in place.
