​We’re hosting 2 events: an info session and protest photoshoot earlier in the afternoon, followed by a vigil at twilight.

​Info and Solidarity Session

​At 3pm by the Petch Fountain, come find out about AI Ethics and Alignment and join us in supporting the international PauseAI protest:

​"On the 10th and 11th of February this year, politicians from around the world including the USA, China, UK, Canada and France as well as global experts in AI will be gathering in Paris for the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit. Without a focus on safety, the summit will be a lost opportunity to protect our common future. We are protesting around the world to shift the main focus onto AI Safety!"

​Vigil for Our Shared Future

​During the twilight from 5:00 to 6:30 pm we will be hosting a “Vigil for Our Shared Future”.

​If you feel like our future is threatened, please join our silent vigil in observance of our shared fears and vows to do what we can to protect the future for all of us.

​NOTE: This event is worldview-agnostic. It is not specific to AI. You are welcome if you fear Climate or Ecological Disaster, War, Pandemic, Capitalism, Communism, Fascism, Asteroids, Aliens, or any combination of those or anything else. You are NOT welcome to criticize others' fears. This vigil is not about whether our fears are valid, but that we have them and want to be there for one another.

​Come early if you want to make conversation. At 5:20, there will be a brief speech introducing the vigil, and then we will observe candlelit silence with a bell toll at 5 min, 10 min, 30 min, and 1 hour for those who want a signal to stop observance at those times.

​Hot drinks will be available throughout the event.
