About Event

Have you ever thought that the main issue holding us back from enacting the type of climate policies we need is (unfortunately) ourselves? Creating policies that are good for everyone is not only difficult but sometimes impossible. We have to find a way to collaborate and compromise with groups of people that we have historically either not associated with at all and/or groups of people for whom we hold strong biases against because of fundamentally different belief systems on core values. In the policy sphere, the most obvious groups that we need to get to work together are liberals and conservatives.

Join us for a fireside chat with Benji Backer, author of The Conservative Environmentalist and founder of both the American Conservation Coalition and Nature is Nonpartisan, moderated by Jenny Morgan, author of Cancel Culture in Climate. Jenny will chat with Benji about his perspectives on a variety of climate related topics in an effort to help build awareness in our collective community that conservatives do share common goals with liberals, even though the two sides may disagree on many other things.

We hope you walk away from this event with an understanding that builds respect and allows you to put your disagreements aside so that we can make progress on climate together. We cannot do it divided.

By registering for this event, you agree to share your registration information with the organizers of PNW Climate Week, receive communications about PNW Climate Week, and acknowledge that photos/videos may be taken for promotional use.
