About Event

This week, we will navigate the flurry of news and developments following the release of Chinese AI company DeepSeek’s open-source reasoning models. We’ll examine how this event challenged long-standing assumptions in AI research and technical governance, along with the ensuing corporate PR reactions, the USD1T market correction, and a proposal for new legislation aimed at banning the import of AI technology from China.

We’ll also examine Chinese AI policy and regulation while investigating the country’s overall AI development trajectory. Moreover, we’ll assess whether the ‘Beat China, Build American AGI First’ strategy—which assumes that China will comply once the US achieves AGI—is both wise and safe, and we’ll explore alternative approaches.

This is a vast topic, but we’ll have ample time to discuss and unpack the readings during our session. We look forward to seeing you all there!

Drinks and Snacks will be provided!
